Sara Jean Young, MPA

Sara Jean works to resolve conflict and strengthen communities for the long-term.

She is a certified mediator and began her mediation journey with the Asian Pacific American Dispute Resolution Center in Los Angeles. She has a master’s degree in Spiritual Psychology where she studied theology and practiced deep listening and conflict resolution.

Sara Jean began her career at the Mental Health Association in Los Angeles in 2002 and has continued to care deeply about connecting people with the resources and human services that help them to thrive in their neighborhoods and communities.

She has a master’s degree in Public Administration where she focused on how city, state and federal governments operate, how to provide residents with public services and how to lead public service organizations.

Sara Jean is personally and professionally allied with people and organizations that are focused on systemic issues such as poverty, mental health, incarceration, racism and abuse and is dedicated to shifting social systems to support well-being.

One of her great joys is cooking soup with the incredible community at Soup For You!, a radical soup kitchen in Minneapolis. She is wild for scrappy little dogs and cozy reading corners. After spending her whole life in sunny California, she has fallen in love with walks along the Mississippi river in all the Minnesota seasons.

We are guided and inspired by so many others who have been doing this work for generations (Marshall Rosenberg, Mariame Kaba, adrienne maree brown, Prentis Hemphill, Ken Cloke)
